In fish hatcheries and food processing facilities, cleaning is an important first step in the process of disinfecting surfaces and equipment. Proper cleaning can remove up to 99% of infectious material and render surfaces visually clean and free of particulate matter. Clean surfaces can then be rinsed with a disinfectant to complete the disinfection process. Western Chemical offers several disinfectants for use after cleaning with AquaLife Multi Purpose Cleaner.

AquaLife Multi Purpose Cleaner is NSF registered which is required by some regulatory agencies prior to use in food processing facilities. The registration took place on June 26, 2009 and the notice from NSF can be seen here. The Alaska Dept of Environmental Conservation requires that cleaners be NSF registered if they are to be used in food processing facilities. AquaLife Multi Purpose Cleaner is concentrated and can be diluted up to 20 times prior to use. This concentrated formula allows for cost effective cleaning of fish hatcheries, aquaculture facilities, research facilities, and food processing plants. Unlike more caustic cleaners, this product ships as a non-hazardous material which greatly reduces shipping costs. Gallon Jugs and Cases can ship via UPS or US Postal Service.

This product has been tested in working fish hatcheries and compared to other cleaners. In all cases, AquaLife performed as well, or better than highly caustic cleaners that must ship as hazardous materials.

Below are some before & after photos which show Nopad hatchery trays which were cleaned using AquaLife Multi Purpose Cleaner. The use of this cleaner greatly reduced the amount of labor which previously was needed to clean these trays. Rinse thoroughly after use to remove cleaner residue.
