Western Chemical In the NewsPRESS RELEASE~ October 1, 2007 Subject: New Smaller Package Sizes for TRICAINE-S (MS-222, TMS) Fish Anesthetic Western Chemical is pleased to announce the availability of TRICIANE-S (MS-222, TMS, Tricaine methanesulfonate) in three new package sizes. The new package sizes include a 1 gram, 5 gram, & 10 gram bottle. TRICAINE-S (MS-222) is an FDA approved fish anesthetic (FDA ANADA 200-226) which is used for the temporary immobilization of fish, amphibians, and other aquatic cold-blooded animals. “The FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine has approved our request to package TRICAINE-S in one gram, five gram, & ten gram bottles where previously we offered only one hundred gram and one kilogram bottles” says Western Chemical’s director of sales Ron Malnor. Mr. Malnor adds that “We have listened to our customers who only need small quantities of fish anesthetic. These new package sizes are already proving to be popular with a variety of MS-222 users including fish health veterinarians, fisheries biologists, and researchers". TRICAINE-S (MS-222) continues to grow in popularity and it is currently the best selling MS-222 in the United States and Canada. In Canada it is sold by Syndel Laboratories under the name of Aqua Life TMS (smaller size MS-222 bottles are not yet available in Canada). This is the only FDA approved MS-222 which is packaged in slip resistant and break resistant plastic containers (instead of glass bottles). Some fish hatchery managers now require that their facilities use TRICAINE-S (MS-222) due to safety concerns related to the use of glass bottles in wet environments. TRICAINE-S (MS-222) is manufactured in Washington state at Western Chemical’s manufacturing plant. This facility is FDA approved for manufacturing and repackaging of approved animal drugs. The plant operates under strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) & Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
